Erika Sutter
Art

Hi, I'm Erika!
Thank you for checking out my website! Here’s a little more information about me! I have spent the last five years caring for my two wonderful children, Matthew and Jackson. After being blessed to spend this time with them, I am very excited to begin my teaching career again! I would like to introduce myself and explain the variety of experiential knowledge that I will bring to the art classroom.
I spent three years teaching Art in the state of Florida. After relocating for my spouse’s job, I continued teaching in Maryland, just outside of Washington D.C., for one more year. My qualifications include 5 years of professional teaching, 2 years as a high school art teacher and 3 years as a middle school art teacher. Prior to teaching I spent a year as an Art Therapist, working with low-income children and families in Leon, Gadsden, and Madison county, in Florida. I also interned
as an Art Therapist in my community hospice care and in a pediatric developmental center for a year and a half.
I attended Florida State University and have received a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and a second bachelor’s degree in Art History and Criticism, with minors in Education and Psychology. I continued my education at Florida State University, receiving a Master of Science degree in Art Therapy in 2014.
During my position at Leon High School, I taught 4 levels of 3-Dimensional Art and an Intermediate 2-dimensional art course. I co-sponsored the Art Club, and was a Co-Sponsor of the Junior class. I strongly believe in positive school culture and did my best to participate in building that culture within my classroom. I can’t wait to get back into the classroom!
Outside of classroom teaching, I am a mom to two little boys who I adore! We are always up to something fun!
